Sounds like you are all speaking from experience. lol.
I used to work part time for one of those contact mags back in the day. After we had the details one of the girls from the office would ring you up and chat to prove we had established a contact as we promised in the advert. Then the girl would end the call saying she was busy yadda yadaa, but would promise to ring back to arrange a date. You can guess the rest.
