Just had an e mail from the good people at McAffe and it has informed me that my subscription ends in a couple of weeks. Now I want to keep using the Mcaffe security centre that I have installed,because I think its a pretty nifty bit of kit (two years and no trouble,touch wood) its just the 45 sheets to renew it that is giving me concern.

So was just wondering,is it worth renewing it in your opinion? And is there a way around the ?45. I mean can I un-install it and by a copy off E-bay,for about half the price? Will this work?

No. Get Spybot, Adaware and Spybot Terminator for the anti-Spyware stuff. Get free Zone Alarm for your firewall and get AVG Free Edition for virus scans and you won't need anything else. Not only that, but it's all FREE to boot!

I agree with mojo.

I use a free firewall Zone Alarm (it is free for personal use, they do sell it to companies so it IS a good firewall)

I use free anti virus AVG (again, free for personal use and they do sell it so it is a good AV)

I use free Adaware for spyware/cookies.

I also use free Winpatrol for monitoring my PC to make sure nobody is trying to change anything without me knowing.

I have never had a virus or problem in 3 years using these 4 products, on three diferent computers. (in fact viruses have tried to come in but AVG has always spotted them and warned me, even on e-mail).

They can all be found easily by searching the web, just make sure you download the FREE versions, which can sometimes take a bit of finding.

Usualy a search on "Zone Alarm Free" or AVG Free" is enough to find them.

I was at college doing a computer course a few months back and I noticed that they even had AVG on their computers!

Zone Alarm is the firewall. AVG is for scanning and getting rid of any viruses.
