My heart bleeds for him, didn't join the under 21 squad because he's tired.
With cup games and internationals he's played 60 games, thats 3.75 days of football in 8 months.
He should have a chat with some nurses who have to work 12 hour shifts they'll tell him what tired is.
He should never be picked for an England sqad again, give someone a chance who really wants to play for their country.

Give him some credit i suppose for having the balls to tell someone like Stuart Pearce he didn't want to play for England because he's tired.
I couldn't imagine Pearce even thinking of ever doing that.

I don't think there's any question that Blackburn and particularly Mark Hughes pressured him to pull out.
Stuart Pearce said as much in that it was Mark Hughes who initially phoned him last Wednesday afternoon to say that the player needed a rest and then Bentley phoned Pearce later on that evening to confirm that he was pulling out but that happened only after Hughes had done so first.
Of course the player had the option to tell his club manager where to get off but for me this is more down to Blackburn than the player.
