Home Secretary John Reid told BBC News that the treatment, dubbed "chemical castration", is not a punishment and offenders will not be forced to sign up to it.

So much spin, I'm dizzy.

I'm sure others will answer in more depth but this is just a soundbite to gain favour from Daily Express and Mail readers.

What % of abusers will come forward? What % of abusers actually realise they have a "problem"?

It's just another zany idea to stop the prisons overflowing isn't it?

I'm open to opinions but I can see so many holes in this if I was a Swiss Mouse I'd be dribbling.

The side effects will kill them tho

Trouble with chemical castration is the side effects - heart problems, bone problems, you pretty much fall apart. I imagine it's only something you would voluntarily consider if it was either that or strangeways.

We should start with the paedotricians

Those paedotricians are the worst. Never mind chemical castration, castrate them with a rusty bolt cutter.
