Blair religiously insane

In this forum I have commented before that Blair was religiously insane. Now the proof is here as he bows down before the Catholic Church. He will convert to Catholicism like his wife Cherie and God knows what her father is thinking the firebrand socialist Tony Booth!

When Tony goes to confession and the priest questions him about mortal sins will he confess to being a super salesman selling arms for BAE and leading the UK into an unjust war by telling blatant lies about "weapons of mass destruction and forty minutes warning."

Now that Saddam Hussein the former leader and legally elected head of a sovereign state has been silence and executed and that country's oil being siphoned off, can Tony now be forgiven for his sins, being unrepentant for the deaths of millions of innocents? Can this arch hypocrite chanting
Hail Mary's and Our Father's to wash away the blood, still being red in tooth and claw, kneeling before some reprobate priest be forgiven ever or go down in history as a war criminal?
Mike Freeman.

After the Second World War the Catholic Church helped many war criminals to escape to Argentina and Paraguay. Blair is in good company.

Personally I never understood what's making the Catholic Church so attractive. It is a a criminal organisation. Converting to catholicism is the last thing i would ever do.

I don't think he meant that he did not understand what was so attractive about the priesthood as a vocation (you have answered that nicely though).

I rather suspect he was baffled as to why anybody would wish to become a catholic as a worshipper.

Now, that is baffling.

I think John Newman said in his 'Apologia' that it had to do w/ the quest for certainty--the Holy Roman Church tells you what to believe & what to do, & then guarantees salvation. Something like Islam, tho the details are a bit different.

More importantly to someone with blood on his hands, the Vatican has been dishing out ecclesiastical get Out Of Jail Free cards for almost a millennium, ever since those who took part in the first crusade were promised that any sins they committed there would be absolved.

I do wonder how statesmen who claim to be Christians (Thatcher, Blair, Bush jnr) can reconcile their faith with their actions. Brown is a son of the manse, so it will be interesting to see how he goes.

IIRC, Bush's original anti-Iraq impetus had something to do w/ God telling him Saddam had to go. Just wunnerful.

Yes, that's exactly what I don't understand.
I suspect the same in-built hypocrisy and double moral standards that put me off, are the Church's main attractions for Mr. Blair.
