Hey y'all!!

Sorry for another film post, but here goes.

Just watched "Road to perdition" that I recorded the other night. A fantastic piece of cinema!!

The performances are incredible all around, but Paul Newman just steals every single scene he is in. With out a doubt it is his film from start to finish!!

I find Mendes's style of direction to dark and depressing usually (Jarhead being the best example of this) but cant think of any one better to have directed this. Some truelly stunning moments of cinematography. The best being (And trying not to give any thing away if you have not seen it) Paul Newmans final scene in the rain.

Its on again tomorrow night, followed by "Millers Crossing" if you have not seen it. Try staying up for Millers Crossing as well....another great!! Its taken a little while but Film4 seems to have really found its feet of late.

Sorry bit of a crap post.....but it might be of interest to some one

Can't say I was greatly enamoured by Road To Perdition.

Miller's Crossing, on the other hand, is superb.

Hey Big "C"

Yes,gotta be honest here im very excited about Millers Crossing. Not seen it for years. I did catch "The Big Lebowski" last weekend which kinda reminded me what Genius's The brothers "C" really are.

As for "RTP" I suppose take away the direction and Mr Newman its not that great a film. But those two factors managed to keep me hooked all the way through.

Its certainly not Tom Hankls that kept me watching!! His best film is still "The burbs" lol Which is on ITV2 tonight BTW

Thanks for stoping by Big "C"

If that's the best he can come up with, I don't think much sleep will be lost at Beeston Towers.

back on track, Paul Newman is worth watching in almost anything. Best performance? Arguably as Fast Eddie in The Hustler. A nasty piece of work, and you still find yourself sympathising with him.

Well im sure with the right help i will get over it!!

Your right chap...Paul Newman is a class act all round. Dont think I could pick out a best performance!! The Hustler is right up there mind!!

All though not his best performance (perhaps) my favourite Newman film is and will allways be........"Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid"

I know I should be saying "Cool hand Luke" "Cat on a hot tin roof" or virtually any other film he has made!! But every thing about Butch and Sundance is just perfect!! His Chemistry with Redford is just fantastic and is the most enduring thing of all!! Combined with a wonderfull script and Katharine Ross (mmmmmmmm) the film all ways makes it into my top 10!!

"Hell the fall will probably kill ya""

Top movie. And Ms Ross was adorable.
