Porno Law Change History in UK

I supposed I could try Wikipedia, but I think I'd get more accurate info here so I have two questions...
1. When did they allow hard-core porn video material legally into the UK? I seem to remember it was always the subject of debate in old Men Only and Club magazines ( and those little ads in the back pages which hinted that they'd supply it to you if you didn't tell the police ! )
2. Is it true that page three type photoshoots ( tits and bum only ) have to use 18+ models now? If that is true, was it part of a European Union agreement or something?
I remember a case here in Perth, Western Australia where a 16 year old chick was working as a shop assistant in a sex shop surrounded by porno mags. It turned out to be legal ( at the time ) as long as she didn't actually BUY anything - that would be have been illegal!
