I did enjoy The Departed but I do believe it fell apart in scenes esepcially towards the end where you couldnt help but giggle when certain characters were popped off one by one.

The problem I found with this film was they really tried to combine the Inferal Affairs trilogy into one film so there was to much going on to fast without much character development into some characters

Whats even more annoying is that Scorsese won the Best Director for this where he deserved it for so many other films and I include Gangs of New York in that for sheer effort alone.

Still its a good film and is one of the best movies of last year as I do believe very little came out to shout about but I still rank The Departed over alot of Scorsese's other films like Bringing Out The Dead, Kundun, Cape Fear but for me Scorsese's underatted masterpiece is After Hours.

Haven't seen the Departed yet, I love the original (Infernal Affairs) so am a bit reluctant to see an American remake. Having said that Scorsese is usually a safe pair of hands and could pull it off. I think one of Scorsese's most underrated movies has to be "The King Of Comedy" which was a flop on its release yet is arguably one of his most powerful films in a simmilar vain to Taxi Driver (even though it is a PG cerificate). Its one of those movies that really makes you squirm with the humour in the same sort of way the comedy of Ricky Gervais does now. Brilliant and way ahead of its time.
