I have been having an ongoing 'PC not-fucking-working-properly-yet-again'
situation for the last few mo's, hence th q.

...the Euro is refreshing fine, so I suspect the problem is local.

do these things still work?

Maybe it was just the sudden silence......[ my media-player crapped out
sudenly and first I thought it was the jacks [my speakers are 15-y-o and
have outlived 2 computers !!] , then the port, then the software, then
the....well, you know what fault-finding is like on PCs.......

I always like to have some muzak in't background, do you see,
bachgen....

It plays music, rather than pumping me full of hallucinogens.

Now THERE'S a thought.....

when things get to hard I download and run and those faults jut dissipate into thin air

It turned out that I had Real Player's volume-control set to max, and
apparently the jacks balked at the overload. I simply turned the vol. a
skosh and all was well.
Never come across THAT one before...... AND I'd just shelled out a score on
new speakers..... you just can't win.
