Yesterday 10 people were arrested at Biggin Hill airport in Kent for chaining themselves to railings and causing disruption this protest had nothing to do with the much bigger one at Heathrow, these people were protesting because Biggin Hill which is in the suburbs of London is used by the super rich and famous for flying their own private jets these are the same people who think that planting a few trees every time they take off puts everything right, when you think that the rest of us on our budget flights who are packed in like sardines and its often the same on trains and other public transport and being told that we will have to pay more for our air fares then i can share the frustration of these protesters !cool!

I have been on a few protest myself and providing they are peacefull ones then they do good by bringing to the publics attention what the reason of the protest is, think of the suffragettes years ago women wouldn have got the vote if it hadnt been for them and since then we have had a women Prime Minister not that i was a fan of the old cow. The rich can now purchase offsets which offset their carbon footprints which is bollocks because paying someone to plant a few trees everytime they take off in their private jets wont make any difference as trees take a life time to grow but the damage they are doing is having a more immediate effect on the climate.

on the side...
"paying someone to plant a few trees everytime they take off "
Ahhhh but do they plant things???? or is it just another way of collecting some Tax
The Olympics needs a bit of help and the government has already raided the lottery pot... bastards. So to make a lovely "green friendly" Olympic area could be a way to spend money... oooohhhh as long as there are a few trees involved in the project... I can almost see that happening.
I haven't heard of any tree planting going on... wouldn't you expect this government to have spun a story about this by now ie acres of new forests being shown somewhere... though certainly not down here in the South East where the Government seem to be going flat out to concrete over everything including flood plains. I expect this will allow more floods in the future thus giving more weight to the global warming story!!!
And another point about "pay this green tax to fund tree planting" I used to think the Road Tax (RFL) money was spent on repairing/building roads silly me.

What is 'money'?
I suffer from relative poverty and hence know nothing about 'money'.

Don't worry, JJ. There'll be people along in a moment to throw lots of it your way. Just be sure and spend it all on fags, booze, fake tans, tattoos, junk jewellery and getting your blond highlights done.

Offsetting and planting trees wont make any difference and neither will more taxation, i believe its better to use the carrot rather than the stick if council tax was lower for properties that were insulated and the more greener they were the less tax they paid as they would consume less energy then this could make a difference, and the same could be the same for industry and all kinds of commerce but with a tax loving goverment this will never happen !cool!
