Great name for a racehorse

Mate of mine, in drunken conversation at local races, had a conflab with another equally drunk punter about what they would call their horses, if they ever stopped pissing it against the wall and could afford to run one....
Mate said he would name his horses after his mother, daughter etc.
Other punter said he would call his horse My Face. Said he wanted to hear the female racegoers yelling out "come on My Face!" in the final furlong. Ahem.

I remember a couple of horses called 'Betty Swallox' and 'Mary Hinge' apparently nowadays racehorse names have to be approved because of this! !oops!

i'm sure i read somewhere that a racehorse name could only be a certain number of letters long, anyone know if this is true?
