Denis wasn't a bad actor. Ewan, on the other hand . . .
For top Scots actors, see the late Alistair Sim, the late Ian Richardson, Bill Paterson, Brian Cox, Ian McDiarmid, Robert Carlyle, and the present flavour of the month, and arguably the best of the bunch, James McAvoy.
I've decided on St Pancras.

I forgot to mention Peter Capaldi, Peter Mullan, the late Ian Bannen as well, and no doubt several others.
McGregor was touted as the next big thing some years ago. Sadly, his choices of films have proved pretty poor, and he looks rather ordinary in even the better ones.

Mr Lawson, yes, playing a Mockney, whose girlfriend was offed by the Prince of Wales. It wasn't terribly good.
