Have Computer Compatible TVs with HD made computer monitors obsolete?

I've seen some obscure brand names at the bottom end of the market like this

It makes me wonder if its just a monitor being called a TV given the price

Since the specs include an inbuilt tuner I guess that makes it a TV.

Some LCD tvs at the low end are not proper tvs, they are monitors and as such they chop and crop the image rather than presenting it properly. So I'm told.

That TV's resolution is only 1024 x 768 (4:3 ratio), but standard for a 15" screen I guess.

HD digital resolutions are:

1080p/i = 1920 x 1080 (16:9 ratio)

720p = 1280 x 720 (16:9 ratio)

480p/i = 720 x 480 (3:2 ratio)

On a 15" screen, watching HD means either lots of cropping for 1080i, or a tiny picture. For 720p there isn't as much cropping/picture resizing, but you're still losing quality.

I was looking at this 22" monitor/tv

Not bad for ?250. 1680 x 1050 resolution.
