Bono And Bob - Twats?

I saw Noel Gallagher on the box a few weeks back. He was being interviewed about matters rock & roll when the subject of Bono, Sir Bob, and all the rest of that music, politics, and African debt relief malarkey came up. Noel opined that Bono and Sir Bob were ?a pair of twats?. It seems that being an unpretentious guy from a working class background he had no time for their ethical hogwash and effected concern. He said ?Folks don?t go to a fuckin? rock ?n? roll gig to see pictures of starving Africans. They go for a good time.?
Is Noel right? Are Bono and Bob a pair of twats? Should they mind their own business and stick to playing their guitars?

Bono with his superglued-on sunglasses makes me cringe. I wonder if he can change a flat tyre?

Since Dibble has had his usual rant about "working class background" he might care to tell us what the background of Bob Geldof and Bono is.

Bono is a great man..with a fab voice. He has a soul too which is why he tries to make a difference...he was 'Time' joint Person of the Year a couple of years back based upon what he had achieved re Third World Debt.Noel is probably a tad jealous me thinks....

Or to put it another way, Noal Gallagher trying to court publicity and keep interest in Oasis alive while he decides whether to go solo or not.

If Noel means that Rock and Roll should be an escape from all that do-goodery then he's probably right, but that still doesn't mean fully exempt. I wouldn't exactly say stop to Bono and Bob for doing what they do, it's more the manner in which they go about it that can irritate, something this, from Noel himself, so perfectly sums up:
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but are they hoping that one of these guys from the G8 is on a quick 15-minute break at Gleneagles and sees Annie Lennox singing Sweet Dreams and thinks, 'Fuck me, she might have a point there, you know?'"
