I joined the RAF.
I still remember the day like it was yesterday.I was shitting myself and when I got to Swinderby, I just wanted to turn round and go home, some guys did, but I stuck it out.
I remember a Cpl Lillywhite who was one of the instructors.
long shot here, but was anyone else kicking around Swinderby around October 1977?
I was in Intake No. 24/27

Are you still in the RAF? Or RAF Reserve?
No, not a stupid question. Some military personnel serve for decades.

No to both.
I've been out for ages now and at 46 I dont think the military would have any use for me.
When the first Gulf war was on I was out, but got a message, from an unreliable source, that the RAF were going to call up everyone that was in my trade group as they were needed over in Saudi.
It didn't come to anything, thank fuck.

I nearly have. I'm not 50 yet - 3 more years to go. God, what size will I be then?
