Microsoft Office on Vista

I have a new laptop which has Windows Vista as the OS- thing is, it didn't come with Microsoft Office, a program that I need to run all of my documents.

If I picked up a cheap copy of MSOffice 2000 or Office XP and run it, will Vista accept it?

Or is it another cynical ploy by Gates where I have to shell out another ?100 for Vista-compatible MSOffice '07?

TYIA.

Open office is crap ff, use a copy of office 2000 or 2003, they both work perfectly ok on Bisto. just make sure you have a serial number (key) etc and if it's a copy DONT register it if your asked to ever, your not required to.

As soon as I can prod Mrs JJ awake [my personal; IT consultant, even
tho the lazy mare can't be arsed to get out there and earn me some
beer-money off it, the ratbag], I'll get an answer one way or t'other.
