Yes either read the book that came with the pc (unless it "fell off the back of a lorry" guv.) or go to Control Panel>> System and Maintenance>> Get Started with Windows>> What's New in Vista, lots of demos to show you what's what.
What version of Vista have you got??
I have Vista Ultimate ... it fell off the back of a lorry guv. version.

Or .... Welcome Centre .... Whats New In Windows Vista - takes you to the same show without having to buy the popcorn and coke.

When you click the gold star you get a small window with 3 options across the top: favorites, feeds, history.
Click "history" and your history appears.
Click the small arrow (black triangle) to the right of "history" to sort your history in various ways, or search it.
If you want the small window on the left to stay there click the small green arrow to the right of "history".
Click the cross to remove it.
