Wankers on TV

Post by chatterji »

Daniel Levy and Paul Kemsley, board directors of Spurs.

I was at the Getafe game last night. It was a very weird atmosphere, especially when mid-way through, the news came down that Jol had walked/been pushed.

That was bad enough, but when I got back and watched the taped highlights, the camera caught Levy and Kemsley sharing a smirk as we went 2-1. Unbelievable and yet so very believable.

30 years of mediocrity should tell you where the problem lies

Like my west ham pal keeps telling me...we might be relegated but at least we're not spurs

There might be something to that.

It's a variation on the problem Leeds had-----except Leeds' glory days were not so far in the past. Tottenham is a big club (like Leeds), but still thinks of itself as a an achiever. It might have managed more trophy success than Newcastle in the last 30 or so years, but it is just as likely to get its act together and threaten to gatecrash the party of four at the top of English football.

Directors smirking at their team losing? Could be a malicious piece of editing. Or a smile to say, "Yeah, proves we're doing the right thing ditching Jol." Or maybe, he said cynically, symptomatic of the contempt directors all over the country have for the clubs they are a part of. We know why supporters are involved with teams. The motives of directors are more ambiguous.
