I suppose the funding is going to help look for their daughter in an indirect way. They have other children, and themselves to look after, and if they're not working because they're spending every minute looking for their daughter, then that doesn't mean the bills don't coming in.

If the funds raised are making sure the couple can spend their time looking for their daughter, rather than giving it up to pay the bills, then the money IS going towards the search.

I mean, maybe they are making money out of it, who knows? But paying their mortgage is helping; you can't escape that fact.

A public fund is set up to help them find their daugther. What a waste of time because the McCann's know exactly what happened to their daughter.
