Yes, pure class performance. The obligitory return in the contract should also be a belter, but Joe did look tired at the end. Still, thats not to take anything away from him, and credit to Kessler for coming to scrap as well

Good fight. Came home early from the pub to watch it last night.

Joe looked tired, but no matter what age you are, if you throw over a thousand punches over 12 rounds than you'll be fucking tired! Kessler looked more marked up, and was just as tired as Joe, but didn't throw half as many punches. Kessler will be dominant in the division when Joe retires and will wipe the floor with most, but he's too one dimensional for Joe Calzaghe and a rematch is a waste of time.

Calzaghe v Hopkins will be a Calzaghe win. Hopkins is just a dirty fighter who punches in the clinch and on the break, on the blind side of the ref. Very clever and cunning, and very strong, but dirty and boring to watch. I think Calzaghe is too experienced and quick to get into a clinching match. If Joe wants the money, then Hopkins is the one to go for, but if it's recognition stateside, even beating Hopkins will just get the yanks moaning that Hopkins is over the hill, and 'past it', and they'll say Joe is ducking the younger, fresher fighters like Pavlik.

I'd like to see a Calzaghe v Pavlik fight as Pavlik is good, technically, and young. He's the best of the younger bunch coming through and if Joe beats him at 36 years of age then he's proved he's beaten everybody in the division, ducking no one.

If he then wants to go out beating Hopkins, he can, but if he goes for Hopkins first, then he might be nearer 37 if Pavlik comes out to challenge him, and that speed of Calzaghe's might be missing against such a younger fighter.

I didn't see this fight as it was shown on Pay TV. I've just read about it on the BBC sports webpage.
