hi, ive downloaded something and apparently its a file extension,i think it a java file but anyway my pc cany/wont open it any idea of what programme piece of software i can get/need to open it thanx so much or do i need to d/l an office prog???thanks

Looks like it's a shell script for the Linux platform. Maybe it's not meant for Windows?

thanks sam,also i recieved a outlook express e mail with a attachment which i think was a powerpoint but again i couldnt view it any idea what i need to view it or what i need to download sorry to sound thick but im a pc virgin

sam, this is the link that i got told to d/l and open,if you scroll down the page to where it says solaris 32bit 22mb file and i was told by the guy at aol live help it was what i needed as i was enquiring about my d/l speeds as to wheter they were what they were meant to be but like i said i downloaded that solaris file but then couldnt open it
what do you reckon any ideas or did the online help guy tell me wrong infomation

no sam im on my desktop which is windows xp home edition sp2
i reckon the aol guy told me wrong
it was meant to be a file which would explain about my internet connection speed,what do you think

Well, you want the windows version of the file, not the Solaris version.

it looks like its a manual for java as opposed to telling me about my connection speed
who knows strange
i thought these aol online help people were the ones who were technically minded but christ knows why he told me to download what he did
