Though he didn't pull the trigger his press conferences did everything to smear the guys reputation and for that he should go
Just outright lies from what i saw
He tried to cover it up,end of story
game over

Not for the first time either. The Met shot dead a Scotsman in possession of a repaired table leg and, as recalled in the latest Eye, tried to suggest he was attempting suicide by cop. That was in 1999, though, before Blair was the head guy.
If he was going to go, he'd have done it two years ago. Unless pushed out, he'll go at a time of his own choosing, then write his memoirs and blame everyone else for what happened.
I'd still like to know what happened to that utter wanker who appeared on every TV and radio news bulletin that day, and was quoted throughout the press the next day, giving his "eye witness" account of what happened. Arab guy with rucksack and heavy coat vaulting train ticket barriers and racing away from armed police.
If anyone ever meets the Mitty-like tosspot, would they punch his lights out for me, please.

Its PC interference from the Govt of the day IMHO
Its like the reputation of the instititution is more important than the truth
One can only guess at the possible motives ie staving off civil lawsuits?

Well it looks like the government don't want Sir Ian Blair to go, probably because he has become a bit of a labour puppet. So until the tories win the next election I feel he will not be pushed or jump.

I think it's pretty clear that the witnesses who reported that had actually seen the armed police running into the station. We've now had the benefit of seeing the CCTV tapes.

Okay, cheers, Rob.
Thought the guy was making a lot of it up, having read one too many SAS novels.

Hey
I read a funny thing a little while ago which said in the old days officers of his rank were given a bottle of whiskey,a loaded pistol and sent away to do the right thing, rather than live with the shame. But in Ian Blairs case they suspected he would drink the whiskey and come out shooting with the pistol!!
Cheers
BB
