It is of course very easy to feel superior about other peoples' lack of knowledge, especially if it is one of ones own favourite subjects they know nothing about. But it never ceases to amaze me how ignorant many people are of things that are not within their narrow experience. Just watch (not only) younger contestants flounder on Millionaire when the question has anything to do with history more than 10 years ago, geography outside their home town, a famous person who isnt in a band or movie, etc. I remember years ago hearing someone ask what group Macca had been in before Wings.

So Ice T's "Tonight I'm gonna kill me a cop" is a no-no then?

Okay, these guys may earn more in a week than I do in a year, be able to buy homes in all sorts of wonderful places, eat in the finest restaurants, dress in the most expensive suits, drive the must-have motor. But if you do not appreciate music (classical, jazz, country, rock----anything, any type), then you are not really alive.
This might seem insensitive to deaf people, and those impervious to melody, but it's true. I could no more live without music, or laughter, than I could without water.
In some respects, it's a pose. They trivialise, belittle even, something others feel is important to make their own lives seem richer (pun intended). Instead, they are starving their souls.
