Just read an interview with heath ledger(the joker)
and i suppose it was inevitable that following Jack Nicholson the joker would morph into an even darker character

The Jokers always been a dark character, he killed Robin how much darker do you get? You mean its moved away from the faggy Tim Burton Gothfest with a "wacky " Joker.

Nothing overwhelming, but at least it won't waste half its running time on character exposition (I hope). But neither Burton nor Nolan have given Batman what he really needs, namely a genuine sense of mystery.
It'll probably be a very large hit though. Judging from the indifferent figures for The Golden Compass and the opening weekend I Am Legend has just enjoyed, modern audiences are perhaps wanting their fantasy darker and less fanciful now.

Maybe it's just me, but I found the Batman film with Cristian Slater a bit boring, and looking at the new trailer it seems to be following the same vein.
