The Scousers are just about out of it now. A few more draws, or a defeat and they can kiss the Prem goodbye for another year.
All Man Utd's and Arsenal's youth will be a year older, and more experienced next year as well, so I can see them waiting another 18 years if they don't win it sharpish.

I don't think it's a distraction, it's just that by Christmas, they're usually out of the running, leaving all their attention to be focused on the cups.
This year was supposed to be different, and it is in that they're still in with a shot on the league, although not much of a shot after yesterday's draw.

I undertsand what you were saying
Even if you don't consider Europe a distraction then what do you put their abysmal home record down to
4-5-1 is something you'd expect from a middle table safe team
Their away record is better which makes even less sense 6-3-1
I'd say they'll be lucky to finish higher than 4th
Even cross town rivals Everton might pip them if they pull themselves out of their current nosedive

A conbination of not being good enough and rotation.
They've only got Torres, Gerrard(maybe) and Reina who'd get into the Man Utd team. I can't think of another. Carragher would be decent cover for Ferdinand or Vidic, and while Mascherano is better than Hargreaves, he wouldn't get in over Scholes or Anderson. Finnan may get in over Brown (on occasion) but he'd never get in above even an aging, half fit Neville.
Out of the two sides, for an attack minded team.
-------------------------Reina----------------------
Neville-------Ferdinand-------Vidic-------Evra
Ronaldo-----Scholes-----Gerrard-----Giggs
-----------------Torres-----Rooney---------------
So that's only 2 outfield players out of 10. Compared to the current champions, they just don't have the players.

Looking at their squad I think your right
Plenty of talented players who are occasionally brilliant but never consistent over a whole season
Head to head with the top 2 the conversion of wins to draws speaks volumes......75% to 50%
Quite a few keep going on about how good their defence is because of only 2 losses in the EPL but its the draws that hurt more imho
If only Liverpool had a home record like Man City 9-2-0
Without the signing of Torres they would be out of the Champions league
Crouch,Kuyt, kewell don't exactly scream deadly strikers to me

I am Liverpool fan through and through but myself and most Liverpool fans that are over the age of 14 and have a brain never expected Liverpool to genuinely challenge for this seasons Premier League.
Why?
Because last seasons Champions Lge Final brought out Liverpools good points but also pointed out our shortcomings in that we were a side that was more perspiration than inspiration and it was clear that we needed a top quality striker and two top quality wide players for both the left and right side before we could even think about winning the Premier Lge.
We only got one out of the three and that was never going to be enough and consequently that lack of quality out wide has been our major problem this season. You mentioned an abysmal home record and that's simply because sides like the Mancs, Wigan, Birmingham and most others have shoved everybody behind the ball, and defended the middle of the park for the lives and dared Liverpool to get wide and in behind them which simply hasn't happened because of that lack of quality out wide.
Kewell flatters to decieve and is an injury waiting to happen, Riise is totally shot, Benayoun's alright but Pennent is a complete joke.
I am a big fan of Benitez and he is still the man to lead Liverpool but he doesn't half make some of his own problems. The falling out with Paco Ayesteran could have been avoided. He definitely changes the side too much and this 4-5-1 pisses me off when he plays it away from home because it rarely works but to play it at home against a side like Wigan was ridiculous.
That said we haven't had the best amount of luck but it seems that Arsenal have that patented.
