All that is true enough, but leaving small children alone with big, vicious, poorly-trained pets is the equivalent of strapping a toddler to the bonnet of a jalopy and taking part in a banger derby.
The world is risky, yes, but we do what we can to lessen the risks.
Twenty-five or thirty years ago, tobacco was a sacred cow. Today, it's becoming a pariah. One day, alcohol and even the much-loved motor car will follow suit.
