Can anyone pls point me to a tutorial on how to d/load mpegs and zip from the Britbabaes newsgroup. Also, how do i make a post pls? Im using Xnews. Thnx a lot to anyone eho can help.

open up alt.binaries.nospam.britbabes in xnews. if you look at the icons on the left-hand side of your screen, you will hopefully see some that are light blue in colour. this indicates that all the parts of an mpeg have been successfully uploaded to the server you're using.

if some parts are missing (you can confirm by the numbering of the file parts), you will instead see a dark blue broken looking icon. if you download one of these mpegs, it probably won't play.

click in the 'q' column on the same row as the light blue icon. this will ensure that you download all the files that make up the mpeg.

hit the 'f4' key and it will bring up a 'save as' dialgue box. browse to where you want to save the file to and then hit save. you will then see an indication of how the downloading is progressing, in the bottom right-hand corner of xnews. when the operation is complete you will find the mpeg file ready to play.

I must be going mad! - I download them to my desktop, the progress bar reaches 100% and theyre never there !!
The default download location is set as the desktop too!
Any ideas?

When you right click and save what is the title of the mpeg? If it says HTML document 5.0 and uploads super fast then in my experience you can't download it to your computer from that page.You need to left click and see where that takes you.

Agree with Buttsie. Probably downloading html not mpeg (although that should be on the desktop). If any problem at all with codecs, get the Nimo Codec Pack. It has everything you could possibly need.
