He leaves a two-year old daughter behind by Michelle Williams, his co-star in Brokeback Mountain.
He appears- alongside Cate Blanchett- in the new film about Bob Dylan; and plays the Joker in the new Batman movie- not even out yet; which people say well may surpass his performance in Brokeback Mountain.
Desperately sad.

A very talented actor. Apparently he'd had severe sleeping difficulties filming The Dark Knight and was currently filming with Terry Gilliam. No-one's sure what went wrong, but this is all so wrong in many ways. RIP.
