Deuce, I am getting used to Vista now and it compares favourably to XP. The only thing that bothers me is when I am typing it sometimes jumps to a different place!

I wouldn't install Vista if they gave it me for free.
Unless I had some old harddrive that I was gonna chuck out.

really depends what you use your computer for and how powerful it is
Judging by these 2 tests they did it looks like their going backwards

MS better fix these disk-related speed issues if they ever hope to keep media pro and semi-pro users on their platform. There are plenty of users who need fast read and write speeds like musicians, music producers, and video editors who are still on XP and may have to switch to a Mac out of necessity in a few year's time if MS doesn't get their shit together. I make music on my XP machine and I don't want to be forced to go to OSX... but I may have to if this is still a problem for Windows Vista 2 years from now. If by Vista SP2 this isn't fixed Windows is pretty much dead for pro-media applications. Too bad considering how good XP was (when tweaked) for such applications.
Hard Disk Speed
XP read 119mb/s write 123mb/s
vista orig 83mb/s 61mb/s
vista sp1 80mb/s 53mb/s
