My son just got the book "Top 10 of everything" and in it is the earnings of the top 10 dead celebrities. These are the 2006 figures as the book came out late 2007.
1) Kurt Cobain - 50,000,000 (50 million dollars)
2) Elvis Presley - 42,000,000 (42 million dollars)
3) Charles Schultz (Peanuts) - 35 million dollars
4) John Lennon - 24 million dollars
5) Albert Einstein - 20 million dollars
6) Andy Warhol - 19 million dollars
7=) Dr Seuss (childrens books) - 10 milion dollars
7=) Ray Charles - 10 million dollars
9=) Marilyn Monroe - 8 milion dollars
9=) Johnny Cach - 8 million dollars
Kurt Cobain was a "one off" because his music catalog was sold off that year.
I can understand Elvis Presley and John Lennon. Ray Charles and Johnny Cash are recently dead so had a surge in sales. Peanuts and Dr Seuss books are still selling
But how the hell did Einstein make 20 milion dollars?
Or Marilyn Monroe make 8 million?
