No, hes NOT dead, but whats he up to of late?
His films 'The Fog', 'The Thing', 'Christine', 'Assault on Precinct 13', 'Halloween' and 'Escape From New York' are classics, but I see on the imdb ha has been very inactive over the years.........is there a reason he stopped directing? I KNOW 'Escape from LA' was a bit 'iffy' at best, but it wasn't as bad as some of the bollocks that came out around that time!

One for Terry Stephens, our resident Barry Norman, I think.

I loved Starman. Sequel written but never produced. Shame. Jeff Bridges even wanted to do one.

Yeah I really like John Carpenter Ace. You mentioned some of his best films there but for me I was pleasantly surprised after he fell from grace with ..They Live and Prince Of Darkness...(What the hell happened there???) that he came back with Vampires...What a great movie.

"C'mon father, did you get a little bit of mahogany back there?"

Not sure what he is doing at the moment. he seems to be very low key these days. maybe just enjoying life and family things. The politics of making movies might have jaded him for all i know but whatever he comes back with I hope its a good one as I reckon he is looking for the quality projects now and doubt he will slip up as he did with some duds in the past.

Politics can be a real bitch when making movies
