soldiers in uniform

Just returned from the USA. Over there the soldiers especially once served in Iraq or Afghanistan are ENCOURAGED to wear their uniforms in public.......unlike the UK were soldiers are ORDERED not to wear theirs as it could be offensive to muslims !!!

I think we need to ask some serious questions about what the UK is and what it is becoming.

The government keeps saying how proud they are of the soldiers..................i don't believe a word of it.

Over to you.....

!confused!

HI thought i would reply to this as i have a very close friend in the army and he got back from iraq in june last year. he is now thinking of coming out due to the stress of it, he has been in there 8 years has done 3 tours already and then next year he will be gong to Afghanistan which is meant to be worse then out in iraq. i think they should just bring them all home and let them be safe instead of fighting other people wars all the times thats why Brittan is bthat way we are because people think we are easy and get in to a war and say dont worry england will finish it.

drives me nuts

Wrong again....

Servicemen in this country are RECOMMENDED not to wear their uniform in public as it may make them a target for terrorists. This recommendation- NOT an order- came in after the PIRA began attacking Army Careers offices in the 1980s and, funnily enough, is now being changed for the same reason the Americans wear their uniforms in public- letting the public know what servicemen do and to be proud of them.

This 'offensive to Muslims' crap is the biggest urban myth of the moment. Nothing a serviceman may do as part of his lawful duty is offensive to anyone.

Sky reporting that 4 "men (?)" have been charged with attempting to kidnap and be-head a British Serviceman in Birmingham.

For their own safety its probably not a good thing to walk round in uniform.

I guess it'll be down to their friends to buy em a beer and not go for the USA flag waving ritual.

But I ask the question WHY is it this country that the soldiers fear terrorist attack or kidnapping ?? If you are saying that this country is NOT safe for them to wear their uniforms and be proud then something is very very wrong.....
