I heard on TV news that Derek Conway has been suspended from the House Of Commons for 10 days & has been told to pay back ?13,161.
Does anybody else think, like me, that he should have been expelled or 'required to resign' & why, when sums exceeding ?45k are involved is he being required to pay back only ?13k. does he pocket the rest?
This tosser is standing down at the next election which could be two & a half years down the line during which time he still pockets his full salary, about ?60k + enormous expenses & accrues a gold plated pension that Joe Public can only dream about.
I bet Ted Heath is spinning in his grave.

Doesn't matter what we think. Those bastards police themselves, and any real punishment meted out would perhaps be facing each and every one of them in future. Anyway, he's being punished by being forced to alight the gravy train at the next stop.
Another really good thing about MPs is the way they get to vote for their own wage increases.

Yes I believe there were some that thought it was wrong for them to get
a large increase in salary. Of course the majority of MP's told them f.off
No doubt these will be the same MP's that tell nurses, police etc to accept
an increase in their wages at the cost of living/inflation rate whatever and
that businesses cannot survive any increase in minimum wage
Still as long as the gravy train rolls on and on and...

He's just the unlucky one who got caught. They're all at it. Why do you think they want to exclude themseleves from the freedom of information act?

A disgusting part of this episode is the fact that he halved the salary of a secretary who worked for him saying that money was tight and then paid out a bonus to his son! This woman was only on about ?16k anyway and was trying to raise 3 children on it. Conway really is a piece of work!

I saw a picture of his son in the paper today. The expression 'Knobhead' comes to mind.
