AI (again)

Artificial intelligence is getting better. It can learn by observation, predict our actions and feelings to certain circumstances and lots of other stuff.

It cannot feel heat, hear sound waves and see light. Not as we do, but sense just the same.

My question is: If your pc -though unable to feel pain- could feel emotions like happiness, anger, or fear, would you feel ok about a reinstall?

My lappy would currently be feeling apprehensive and concerned because I'm going to be sending it to silicone heaven shortly to be replaced by a newer, faster, more up to date one.

But what if your laptop (in the future) told you it was terrified of being uninstalled? If it told you it was sad/deeply hurt that it was unwanted?

These are real future, moral dilemmas. Getting rid of pets, or children means setting up agencies for their care. Where do we draw the line in abandonment, physical cruelty, or mental torture?

For instance, it is illegal to torture a puppy by slowly setting fire to it, putting out the flames, setting fire to it again, and putting out the flames (ad infinitum). The puppy doesn't understand that you're cruel, only that it feels pain.

Is it then the cause of pain to something that makes the act immoral, or illegal?

This cannot be because it is also immoral to slowly set fire to another human being, who, say has had spinal injuries and feels no pain. The person cannot feel the flames but is conscious you are setting fire to him/her, and understands you're committing either demented, or sociopathic.

It cannot then be just the cause of pain that makes something immoral, or illegal, but also the mental torture of 'knowing' and 'understanding' evil acts.

So is it immoral to torture a machine that may be able to comprehend torture -both physical and mental? Is it ok to hurt something if it is not life in the natural, biological sense?

I think my computer is fmale as anytime other visitirs like girls come around to go on it it locks up or runs really slow.

A few girls have made that observation in the past.

I thought it was kind of weird when my messenger popped up and said: Get that bitch out of the house NOW!!!! then threw a strop and shut down.
