Hey y'all!!

Tis' been a while since I have posted. Been reading the board when able. Glad too see every one seems to be in good health.

Any way....need advice/a bit of a rant and this seemed like the place for it.

I started renting this place about three years ago and one thing that I allways liked was that the electricity was on a "Pre pay" meter. Not being a huge fan of bills it seemed pretty cool to know where I was all the time.

So almost every week I would make my way to the CO OP and put a fiver on the card thing and that was that. Not once in three years did I run out of electricity and have to use the emergency credit option. All in all I was quiet smug about my electricity situation.

Any way on friday I got a letter saying that I owe ?110 due to E-ons failure to re-calibrate my meter. WTF??? How is this my fault? If I fail to charge my customers the full amount I dont send them letters saying they owe me money. Its my job to make sure I get it right in the first place.

I know its not a huge amount of money its just really pissing me off that I have spent three years trying to do the right thing only to get fucked because of their failure. Given that most households on these meters are on them for one simple reason....they don't have a spare ?110 lying around it seems to defy the point in them some what.

So does any one know if I can tell them to shove the bill up their arse?

Any hooo im a bit tired so I wont be posting on any of the current threads tonight but I will be participating some what this week. I very excited about the prospect of a piss up!! Will be reading that thread with interest tomorrow night

Cherers all

BB

Renting BB?
You're lucky, its your landlords responsibility.........and thats 100% Kosher and legal. Give him the bill and tell him to sort it.............fast!!
Contact E-On and tell them to re-send the letter to your landlord giving his name and address as a matter of courtesy as well.
Not your responsibility in the slightest!!!

On a final notr, tell E-On that you are less than impressed with the service and am seriously contemplating switching to another provider, that usually quietens them down, the cunts!

Not too sure cos I'm not on a meter. Have they tried calling about the reconfiguration when you've been out? Did tey leave a card etc?

It seems to me that if they failed to configure their own meter and they never told you they've called, trying to get in then you've got a point.

If they've tried and left a calling card, and you've thrown the thing away/ignored it, then they may have a point.

Get them in to reconfigure your meter and pay it off ?1 a week. Anymore than that and threaten to switch providers!

The ONLY emphasis on you is if you have blatently ignored requests from yer provider to calibrate the meter OR if you have damaged the meter trying to get free electricity, other than that relax and wipe yer arse on that e-ON bill.
Oh, I'm a very light eater!!

Blimey BB what a small world because a similar situation happened to me.

I pay for my electricity through a Scottish Power meter installed in my flat. They issued me with their payment credit card. I took this card into the Post Office, Co-Op or some such, handed over the amount (?5 was usual) and they'd give you a card. This card was then placed into the payment slot on the meter and when it clicked that meant that amount of money had been credited to your account. SP gave me ?14 of emergency power which from time to time I did access.

Anyway, last February the system changed. Out went the cards in in came a power key system. This meant that my meter had to be change. When the SP technician arrived to change my meter he informed me that there was a debit on my account of ?176!!! The reason for this huge amount was that the meter reader from SP had been unable to gain access to my flat to read my meter when the price per unit had been increased. Apparently this had occurred on a number of occasions and meant that my meter hadn't been read for over 3 years.

I contacted SP and they informed me that as they hadn't read my meter for that long period they'd deduct 50% of the debt. I had to pay them ?88. This was paid back at ?4 per week for 22 weeks.

You guys should be like me and not pay any Electricity Bills ... I don't get any so I sure as hell don't go asking what is happening.
When I moved into this place about 5 years ago I bought a fridge from Scottish Power the assistant said if you switch to NPower they will give me ?25 off the fridge ... not heard from NPower since apart from getting the welcome pack. I don't think they actually know where I live lol.
Hopefully they won't catch up with me as I don't fancy paying a 5 year bill as I guess it might be a few quid.

BB.

Is your power meter actually inside your abode?
