A Conspiracy Of Silence?

A report in The Independent says that thousands of British Asian women are being beaten, kidnapped, and murdered in the name of Islamic tradition and ?honour?. Yet there seems to be a conspiracy of silence and denial amongst the muesli munching classes ? you know, the bearded leather elbowed mob. Do you reckon they could be embarrassed by some aspect of er, ?diversity?? And by their silence and denial are they complicit in the torture and murder of many British Muslim girls every year?

Crime is crime, whoever is committing it. These so-called "honour" killings are just murder dressed up with some sort of cultural justification that only works if you have the same mental illness as the killer.

Question for dibble,
Do you base all your opinion on muslims in general on the media ?

I think the words 'on muslims' to be a bit redundant for the regular victims of Dibbs' oeuvre.

More often than not tribal/cultural traditions hiding under the name of Islam

Sir, my post is one simply drawing attention to a report in a respected Broadsheet and, in the light of it, posing a couple of questions - namely, are leftist, public sector types embarrassed by this report? And furthermore, is their desire to wish it away and sweep the issue under the carpet condemning many Asian girls to a (possibly short) life of beatings and murder? Nowhere in my short post do I express an opinion on Muslims. Which, I must confess, leaves me wondering which "opinions" you are referring to?

Mr Dibbs,
Thanks for the reply, apologies for my mistake on assuming of your anti muslim bias , however i found that it interesting that you have flagged this story,as personally what bothers you most
The fact that the leftist liberal elite wont want to appear racist and condemn the people who do this ,
or
The people who actually carry out these crimes? Currently with the media any Asian female murdered Etc is automatically labelled a "honour" crime ,the most ridiculous example was a man who wanted his wife dead for insurance was labelled a honour crime.
And finally you will never ever stop it happening as its basically a result of the failings in multiculturalism as a whole.

What bothers me most? Why it?s - "The fact that the leftist liberal elite wont want to appear racist and condemn the people who do this". Although of course, in common with any right thinking person, I am non to enamored of forced marriages, kidnappings, and honor killings, etc.
