When are the authorities going to have the balls to turn round to these cheats and tell them if they are found guilty they will be banned for life from representing their country at any level.

I really do hope he doesn't win a medal at these championships.

The authorities don't want him, that's the problem. He's served his ban, and UK Athletics want nothing to do with him---but he's got a lawyer geared and ready to sue the organisation if it hadn't pick him now he has qualified by winning a race while clean.

The athletes that are happy at his return are a small, select group.

There were many that got away with it for years, before testing methods improved. Chambers didn't.

I can see your point, but as i said if a lifetime ban is imposed then this situation wouldn't occur.
3 clean athletes lost medals because of him, i'm sure they'll be cheering him on in Spain.

Well, if it were me, I'd be too ashamed to show my face in public again. But humility and sport don't go together that well.

The UKA have made their position perfectly clear. Sadly, so have the IAAF.

With Chambers refused invitations to any events that are invitational by the UKA, they are only doing what the law requires them to do.

seems to me a lot of double standards here, UK Athletics are jumping up and down saying they don't want him in the team, yet are happy (or have made no comment on) to include Carl Myerscough who has also served a two year drugs ban for taking a cocktail of steroids!

If you want to get an insight into what makes Dwain Chambers tick then I would advise reading 'Game of Shadows'. It's mainly about Barry Bonds the baseball player but thus focuses on the BALCO drugs lab which is where Chambers got all his 'stuff' from (and there was a lot of it).

Note that he's never apologised or even said that what he's done is wrong as far as I'm aware. I think that sums up his personality.

I don't think the athletes are smarter - just the people providing them with 'the stuff' are smarter. I'd be pretty certain that Chambers will still be on something - he's never accepted that any of it is wrong or illegal in enhancing his performance.

Well, it would require a change of regulations. I suppose, the Brits could have tougher regulations than, say, the IAAF (works for the NOC), but for Chambers that would be too late - they could not impose them retrospectively because they feel like it.

In case of Chambers they made the big mistake of not keeping up with his drug testing, as they assumed that he had retired, without any such declaration. Then he came back saying that he had not, and it was not his fault that he was not tested.
