Hi Guys,

My Xbox360 crashed and burned last with the infamous red lights of death on the Ring of light. Does anyone know a site that might guide me into how I might fix the problem? Or does anyone have any tips, inside knowledge? Not too keen on sending it back to MS but I guess I will have to if I cant get the thing working....Damn you Bill Gates!! lol

I had the redi light of death last year on my 360 and after several searches on the net I had no choice but to contact micrsoft.

Got to say that the woman I spoke to was more than helpful, talking me through the many proceedures to see exactly what was causing the red light.
In the end the console was sent away (for free) and a week later they sent me a brand new machine, they keep in contact via email to let you know whats happening.

It was a fairly painless experience.

One tip I'll give is to just check all your leads are fully inserted, may seem like a silly think to say but I recently got an s-video cable (yeah still can't afford HD telly yet) and didn't fully insert it and when I switched the machine on I got the red lights.

I just had mine sent back to me after the rings of death! fantastic service they give you a courier service to pick it up and return it to you and it was back in a week, they also threw in a months free xbox live.

Now all 360s have 3 year warranty as well so dont lose hope if yours is over a year.

Thanks for the encouraging news,Wayne. I have UPS coming round for the Xbox tomorrow,so Im hoping I will only be without it for a week.
Its just very frustrating when you read all the horror stories about the infamous red rings of death. Hopefully our new conditioned machines will work for years to come. Im hoping they throw in some goodies like they did for you lol...And yes my Xbox was 14 months old...so phew lol...

Oh sony are great if you don`t mind them turning up to pick your console up a month later than arranged, when you`re out and after you`ve had the console fixed elsewhere. They`re top notch if you like the brand new game in the console being taken too and customer service telling you touch shit. Compare that to microsoft who may have technical issue`s but bend over backwards to apologise. Can you see why the PS3`s are sitting on the shelves even though sony tried to create a false demand??
