Softcore sells

Really surprised the other day. A bloke I know runs a secondhand shop, mainly dealing in CDs, collectable vinyl and DVDs. He has an under the counter trade going on in hardcore, all originals, but has been struggling to sell them in the last year or so and has cut prices twice.
To cover himself, he has a shelf of brand new softcore titles so that he can advertise "adult titles" in the shop and those who ask him about these can get hardcore if they want. That was the thinking behind stocking softcore anyway, as bait to get the punters to ask for harder stuff.
He's selling more softcore than hardcore now, despite the softcore titles being ?2 dearer than the hard. Work that one out?

Thats doesn't surprise me at all
Theres simply too much hardcore around and not a lot of it is quality
Watch too much of it and all porn starts to resemble this

Doesn't surprise me at all... I think some of the softer stuff is MUCH more erotic...
I would rather watch two girls, or a couple, undressing slowly with lots of touching and feeling and caressing, through the clothes as they slowly come off, as oppose to two people just being naked and banging away up and down in close up for ten mins...

Well you know the old saying: Its Better To Travel Than Arrive and i think the same now applys to porn, the public have been bombarded with cheap explicit porn you can buy copies around the boot sales and pubs for ?2.00 a disk so i dont doubt that people are now looking for some quality viewing with a nice erotic build up even if they dont actually see the penetration and the 18 certs are quite explicit these days !happy!

I've been saying this for awhile now but it seems those who come on here are only locked on hard core ..which is fine because experience in the past several years has taught me otherwise.
Thing is the real opinions are made by those who puttheir hands in their pockets. Not the regualr few that post on here.
People look at me like I'm a nutter for even shooting soft without a cable deal.
Thats right. I am positively insane. If it wasnt for soft i might not still be shooting but there are certain factors that have to be taken on board with this when shooting for it but if I have to tell you...
I'll have to kill you.

I don't think its so much being locked on to hard core Terry.
What I gather from the posts about the soft channels is that they repeatedly claim they are hard and or get harder after encryption.
Which as you know is just bollocks and probably always will be.
Forget the its not us its ofcom crap and the 'clever marketing' defense often made.
The reply the real opinions are made by those who put their hands in their pockets. Not the regular few that post on here is I am afraid typical of an industry supposedly struggling for money.
People aren't buying the UK product not because they don't know nowt about porn and what they want from it it is because if and when they do there is more chance of being ripped off than not.
To suggest they should just buy it anyway is silly.

One Eyed Jack replies:
I can only speak for myself and the client(s) I have sold to. otherwise the Real Couples franchise would have been dead in the water from the off. I subscribe to the belief if someone has been bitten they will become twice shy. I'm still here thanks to the soft option.
As for ripping people off. I know what you are saying and I hate this as it reflects on the business as a whole and believe me, I am one of the few that would like to see some kind of standard form of business practice in this industry as I feel this is important for those of us in this for the long haul.
I dont suggest anyone buy anything. They just do and they buy it on the basis of what it is. If they didnt I would have been out of a job a long time ago.

Couldn't agree with you more Terry.
I used to really enjoy TVX many moons ago especially when Laura Jones, Katie Ann Day and Tamra did their call show together but realised that by being a subscriber I was supporting the con.
I knew it would be soft, often enjoyed it being soft but always wondered how people new to watching felt if they had paid to watch the hard stuff.
While some will take it on the chin I can imagine a lot will just say forget that crap especially now when there are so many other options available.
There are quite rightly posts complaining about ofcom but from what I've seen when it relates to soft its complaints about the stuff being provided under the 'hard' banner.
