I've just been out for an early session (I live in Cardiff Bay), and have had a good few pints of Brains S.A. (Brains is the main brewery for S.Wales)... don't know what S.A. stands for, but the locals call it Skull Attack.

I'm bollocksed.

York, where I used to live, had the York Brewery, with lots of great strong ales and brewery owned pubs (ask Isabella Kay, who lives there). You could get a 'tasting tray' in the Yorjshire Terrier on Stonegate, consisting of 12 quarter pint glasses of everything they brewed. 5 tasting trays later.... not good.

Any notorious beers from 'your parts'?

I could murder a kebab!!

*this has taken 20 mins to spell check* hic....

Roosters has just on West Bute St in the bay, but their kebab meat tastes of dog food.... I miss York.... kebab wraps, the size of donkeys cocks....massive....

Old Doris from Hesket Newmarket creeps up on you, nice to sup but a strong morning after effect.

Jennings Sneck Lifter (Sneck = nose in Cumbrian slang) acquired taste and hard to keep.

Abbot Ale, smooth taste hides a high alcohol level, bad head city.

Stones from Sheffield, possibly the worst Northern brew since Greenalls local "bitter".

All Beer brewed in London is dodgy, sorry crap. Watneys, Courage, Fullers, how they train so many knats to unrinate at once is a mystery to us oop North. I have never had a decent pint of bitter in London and switch to Guinness.

Can anyone remember Shippo's a brewery in Nottingham.

Proper name was "Shiptstones".

It was also known by another word that rhymed with "Shippo".

Closed down years ago - my god was that crap stuff!!!!!

Abbot ale I don't mind. Back in Yorkshire Theakstons was also a premier brew, although they've stopped brewing their best bitter and only brew Old Peculiar now, which is grim.

I'll be avoiding Brains SA in future... not feeling the best :(
