Forget about all that fashionable cobblers to do with racism, gay rights and the ?gender pay gap?. It?s all trendy, metrosexual, bollocks.

But that?s not to say there aren?t any pressing ?ishoos? out there. There are issues. Serious issues ? it?s just that they?re not fashionable with the Luvie set just yet, so you don?t hear much about them in the media (a Luvie stronghold).

But here?s one such issue that will very soon have serious consequences for everyone on the planet if we don?t act now. It?s the depletion of resources and an ever growing, ever more affluent, world population. The effects of which are already being felt in global financial markets as the price of commodities like oil and coffee rocket. To put it simply ? there?s just not enough room or non-renewable resources on the planet for all of us to live the lives to which we wish to become accustomed. Something has to give. Either we embrace global population control with a vengeance or we will end up in misery and poverty, fighting over food, water, and the dwindling resources that are vital to our 21st century lives.

I don?t know about you, but I think that?s a somewhat more pressing problem then gay weddings, twating speed cameras, and ?Diversity Awareness? courses.

Its been a time bomb waiting to explode for decades.If you dig deep enough you'll find the ugly hand of globalisation in all of it.On one hand its lifting living standards generally in the developing world on the other its destroying the idea of growing food for the local population first and replacing it with trade via exports/imports

As for the issue of birth control in the developing world
Its been hampered by the stubborn resolve of the catholic church for as long as i can remember

Then you take the 2 most populace nations on earth

Think it was India where they keep having kids everytime the newborn turns out to be a girl in the hope of a boy...just a bizarre practice
At least china had the foresight to see ahead and introduced the one child policy,except thats now left a lopsided male/female ratio

One practice I'dl ove to see stopped is cattle being bred to provide mcdonalds and their ilk with beef.They destroy rainforests for this when they could simply be growing stuff for local consumption

This nonsense about growing crops to be turned into fuel really takes the cake for the ultimate in wasted resources

Theres a few figures going around that say if we reduced our consumption of meat by 15/20% we could feed the world.

Evolution they call it, but not many people want to believe what is happening - we are making ourselves obsolete

Unfortnately the truth about over-population and the resultant effect on our finite resources is unpalatable and not very 'Politically Correct' (i.e. it cannot be 'solved' by a tax increase) and so the vicious circle will continue

In the old days solution was to have a war and not just an ikkle one in some distant corner.

Wonder if Russians are flexing their muscles on behalf of mankind's existence?

Dibbs- the threat of the BNP is still present. Fascism is still out there- on our streets. It requires the hard work of all decent-minded people to deal with this via constitutional means before the hotheads move to direct action against fascists.
