Why is this term used? Im on about the copper who froze his arse off up a mountain after he'd been outed for playing away from home. He's described as a 'coppers copper', but I never used a 'chefs chef' when I cooked or a 'squaddies squaddie' when I served and certainly not a 'Plumbers plumber' now I'm laying pipe.
I asked my mate whos a fireman if there's a 'Firemans fireman' and he thought I was pissed.

On the news just now its said that the dead copper had between 7-10 affairs on the go.............and a baby by a london officer......
No wonder crimes on the increase .....maybe if he kept his trousers on a little longer things could be better !!!
I don't think he deserves all the "good words" hes getting...

Terms like 'a copper's copper' or 'a comedian's comedian' (for example) describe how the individual was seen as the epitome of their profession by those in the same profession. He was seen as a copper's idea of what a copper should be, if you see what I mean.
A mark of respect in this case - and draws a discrete veil over what must've been a very exhausting private life.
