Omigod! Celebrity Culture And Education

Not often I agree with the leather elbowed mob, but I find I have common cause with the ?Association of Teachers and Lecturers?. They?re denouncing the current vacuous celebrity culture, which they say is ?perverting children's aspirations?. I would also add that it is in particular perverting the aspirations of chav birds. Because nowadays they feel they need to be as slaggy, tasteless, obnoxious and sartorially challenged as notable celebrity slappers like, Paris, Jordan, Britney, Lindsey, Cheryl, Chantelle etc, etc.
The Association is saying that we need to promote much worthier role models for today?s youngsters. Again I agree. But that won?t be enough on it?s own. Government approved role models will not be seen as ?cool?. What?s needed is to get the media on board to create a buzz round women artists, scientists, writers, etc, while at the same time pouring public scorn and derision on the afor mentioned celebrity slappers and any chav bird who adopts their skanky mores and gets a crap haircut. You?ve got to make being a chavy, celebrity slapper clone a socially uncomfortable place to be, or else it just won?t work.
