Pork Pies

Had a yummy hand made pork pie today from our local farmers market. Mmmm it was so good! Loadsa jelly in it. Thats my favourite bit.
Wrote about it on my blog (just because it was that good!)
They do haslet too! Hee hee

You love the jelly they put in pork pies---and criticise us for eating bananas????? Shudder.

You don't get pork pies like you used to.... usually too crusty underneath and no jelly. You can't beat a pie from a farmers market
York, where I used to live, had a farmers market twice a month, which was pie heaven - pork, beef, ham, chicken, all in gorgeous pastry, lovingly egg glossed.
Man, i'm hungry...

Yuk, I don't like that jelly.

I think I've eaten my yearly ration of haslet after what happened to me over Christmas. !wink!

I am not so keen on the big pork pies, but I do like the mini ones, especially the pork and cheese and pickle variation from tescos in the tube.
Also hate the jelly you get in the bigger ones, the mini ones tend to not have hardly any jelly in which for me is a plus.
Dont mind a bit of quality hasslet either, in a sandwich with a touch of brown sauce.

Family bakers here in Derby,Bird's,make a lovely pork pie!
