Let me guess.................
Vista?
My sisters machine (logged in as admin)wouldn't even let her rotate some photos and save due to the files being 'read-only'. It's very common, apparently, and a right pain in the arse because changing the file & folder options doesn't do a fucking thing as the OS just reverts them back.
Tried run commands and everything. The only way I rotated the pictures and saved them was through a 3rd party picture viewer (FastStone Image Viewer).
The only thing I can suggest is looking for some 3rd party file organiser/viewer and copy&pasting inside that. It worked with the pics.
Another option is to copy the vid you want and pasting it into the same folder the original is. You should then have a 'copy of xxx.avi'(for example). The copy shouldn't have the same security permissions, allowing you to cut&paste the copy to your shared docs folder.
Don't know if these will work as I'm not on Vista here, but maybe worth a shot.

First off you have to make the folder shared, then you have to tell it who has access. On my PC(s) I set up a different folder, enabled sharing on it, then allowed specific users full access and denied all access to everyone else.
Its easier than faffing around with "my documents" and all the other we done it for you crap that xp/vista/2000 sets up.
There is one other really annoying thing with vista and that is that if you show all files including system and hidden files then some of the folders it shows are not really folders but special links to the real folders hidden elsewhere... especially the "my documents" stuff... blody annoying!

Yes sharing must be enabled and the access rights (per user or guest) set to allow access.
If that fails, then the firewall may need adjusting to allow shares to be accessable.
