The story goes that when Robert Powell was playing Jesus he wanted to bring his then girlfriend to the location (Tunisa, I think). A row broke out between the producer and Powell about the logistics and ethics of bringing his bird out. It was only resolved when Lew Grade (the executive producer) intervened by saying "Bring her out, there's no need to crucify Robert (Powell)".
