Brian Moore - Respected commentator

If you have Freeview, theres a programme on ITV4 yesterday and today called 'Big Match Revisited' and Brian is the commentator, and he's a class act. Even when he did the Grimsby v Fulham match yesterday, a match that didn't appeal in the slightest to a fan like me, but he was excellent and was clearly absorbed as if it was an important European fixture.
Motty should watch these and take some lessons on 'how to do it properly'

I thought Barry Davies was always better tham Motty as well

Motty should have been retired years ago. Barry was always the better of the two.

Moore had an enthusiasm and a gravitas that Tyldsley and his like can only dream about.

I've been watching that Big Match revisited.Brings back lots of memories.Shabby stadiums, muddy pitches, fighting on the terraces, the time when football was properly football.I hope the Big Match revisited runs for a while.Love the theme tune to it too.I'm humming it as we speak.

So sad that Brian Moore never got to see England spank the Krauts 5-1 in their own backyard, died a few hours before the game,i think.

The best commentator of my lifetime, for sure.

As ive said in my F1 comments......."a good commentator can make a bad match look great, and a bad commentator make a great match bad"

Which is why Harry Carpenter and Reg Gutteridge are so missed when I watch boxing. Their commentary was always top notch

Out of Motson, Moore and Davies, I'd have to say I prefer Davies. I've never understood way Motson is so unliked, and why at the same time everbody likes Brian Moore. I'd have to say I always liked Barry Davies because he was
knowledgable, quick to the point and not at alll flash.

Reg Gutteridge is now plying his trade at Sky Sports, covering the Boxing when Ian Darke is pre-occupied.

It's no surprise how all the decent commentators has moved on from Terrestrial TV to Sky,ie:Martin Tyler(ITV),Darkey(R5) etc.Ace wrote:
