Surely the poor always have.

In Victorian times familes had loads of kids, between 5 and 10 was the norm, so nothing new there.

And it could be argued if the poor had continued to have kids at that rate we would not get the massive uncontrolled immigration that the government seem to think we need.

Aren't they aware of the availability many different types of contraception ?

His father and mother married and had Charlie and his brother. His father was on the stage, but had a really bad drink problem.

He left her to live with another woman, who already had a kid by another man.

Charlie went to live with his father and partner when his mother went in the workhouse, and found that his father always came home drunk after appearing on stage each evening.

His father's partner stayed at home all day, but also managed to have a drink problem. Charlie was shocked by her son from a previous relationship because he kept cursing and swearing all the time.

There is nothing new about the underclass.

It could be argued that giving these type of people more benefits the more children they have just encourages that sort of behaviour.

If you are an uneducated 16 year old girl with no skills and no future then it is a "good" career move to have a number of children by different fathers.

You will almost certainly get a council house, you get money for each child until they leave full time education, you will also probably get free school dinners, housing benefit, income support and so on.

In effect you are being paid to sit at home all day and breed, without any requirement to have a regular partner or even make a good job of bringing up your kids.
