Well said, Steve.

Among all the negativity that's fed to us daily, it's easy to forget those who do extraordinary things to help others. Yes, some do have personal reasons for raising money for charities---wives, parents, children, friends suffering from diseases, disabilities, conditions---but the altruistic aspect of our society never gets the credit it deserves.

It may be a wonderful thing to run 26 miles in just over two hours, but how much more incredible is it to jog or walk it while wearing a heavy costume and carrying a bucket to collect cash donations as you go round? These people deserve admiration and respect.

I love watching it, and whilst it was pissing with rain, the runners seemed to like it as it cooled them down somewhat.
However, 2 years ago, I was in London when the marathon was on, no tubes or buses anywhere........no fun at all!!
Good work all those who participated and to those who sponsored the runners
