Big fight this saturday in Las Vegas and the countdown has started.
For me, Joe Calzaghe should win, he has far too much class, but you can't discount Hopkins either.
I do hope that Joe will retire unbeaten this year, magnificent ambassador to British sport, even if Welsh fans say Welsh Sport......which considering Six Nations and Cardiff in the FA Cup final would be a fair shout!

Calzaghe for me too. I just hope he gets a decent ref because Hopkins is one dirty bastard at times.

I think Joe is a really clever boxer, if he keeps his wits about him and boxes at distance he should be able to pick hopkins off at will and win on points a la Jeff Lacey

I'll pick Calzaghe, but am concerned about the same things Sam mentioned.

Hopkins was a middleweight until 2006.
Calzaghe has been a super-middleweight since the beginning of his professional career in 1993.

Calzaghe might be a good fighter but we will never know. He has never boxed anyone truly great, or even good. Lots of opponents either over-the-hill or never heard of before and never heard of again.
He got loads of credit for beating Lacy, who looked dreadful in his last fight again. He fought Manfredo who had to step up like 3 weights - a disgrace.
His main problem is Frank Warren who never has faith in his fighters and always holds them back. Now he meets an old man in Vegas looking to earn a last pay day on his name. He was a good boxer, but not now. This is a mismatch again - just the way Frank Warren and Joe like it.
Same thing will happen with Amir Khan. He will probably win a WBO title and attempt to claim its a genuine world title.
Real champs like Lennox Lewis show how it can be done, never ducking anyone and winning legitimate and historical titles.
